Open House Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser

Hi Everyone,
The Open House Spaghetti dinner is our next big PTA fundraiser.  Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, May 12th from 5-7pm for a spaghetti dinner, dessert sale and Douglass Middle School open house.  Tickets will be available for pre-sale for $4 a ticket or purchased at the door for $5.

If anyone is interested in volunteering, please contact Ann Brunson (abrunson@hotmail.com or 530-908-7477).  We will need a variety of volunteers, from cooks and servers to clean-up crew and dessert donation crew.  Any little bit is appreciated.

Please see the attached flier for more details.
Thank you,

   DMS PTA

Since some of you may have made a head start on spring cleaning this weekend, we thought we’d provide you a drop off for your used children’s books.  Dingle Elementary School, one of the feeder schools to Douglass Middle School, is having a book drive that’s ending this Friday, February 19th.  There will be a book box in the Douglass Middle School Administration office for the books.  So lighten your load and donate your used children’s books so they can be reread and reenjoyed!  Remember the advanced readers would like challenging books too!

A KVIE Focus on Health Production

The recommended ratio of school nurses to students is one nurse for every 750 children, according to the California Department of Education. Currently, the ratio in some California school districts is 1 nurse to 4,000 students. On Wednesday, March 17, KVIE takes a look at this shortage of school nurses in ViewFinder: A Crisis in Caring – California’s School Nursing Shortage.
You'll meet and follow a school nurse over the course of a day, see the challenges nurses and students face daily, and hear from California’s top leaders working to combat the school nursing crisis.

AmeriGas Propane Customers
You can raise money for important DMS programs just by turning in your receipts!
·       All propane receipts that the PTA collects from Amerigas residential and business customers will earn DMS extra money!

·       Participating schools receive 1/2 cent per gallon purchased.  No minimum gallon requirement.

·       That might not seem like a lot of money, but think about the size of your propane tank multiplied by all of AmeriGas's customers!

·       So talk to family members, business owners, neighbors and anyone else you meet and have them save their original receipts for you.  (AmeriGas propane tanks are usually white with "AmeriGas" written on them in red and blue.)

·       A red, white and blue box for receipts is on the counter in the main office.

Start Sending In Those Receipts!
