*see next page for specific details on each item of the Principal’s Report
*Parent Conferences Oct. 7 and 8 from 1-4 for students with D's and F's.
Can I have a conference even if my student didn’t get a D or an F? I’m concerned because my student has always received an A in this subject but is now getting a C.
Any parent can come to conferences to check on their student :)
*Pt. Reyes Trip is Oct. 11-13
Who is eligible to go on this trip? How would my student learn about this and future trips?
Any student can go on the trip, they just have to sign up and pay attention to the bulletin. The next trip is on the school calendar.
*Magazine Sale Oct. 5-12
What will this money be used for?
ASB activities, dances, assemblies, guest speakers, Day on the Green, roll over money to start the new year, our marquee or future projects the students vote and approve.
*Red Ribbon Week is Oct. 26-30
What’s red ribbon week for?
Alcohol and Drug Awareness. We will put messages in the bulletin from our nurse or counselors regarding the affects of these drugs. We also have a door decoration contest as well.
*Canned Food Drive begins the first week of November
Who gets the food?
A Woodland Organization that helps with needy families. I forgot, Ted or Melissa will know.
*Still waiting for the repairs for our Marquee
What’s the eta (r?) for this?
Still waiting, I should hear something tomorrow.
*690 students had a 2.5 GPA for the first grading period
Were DMS administrators and educators pleased with this number?
Very pleased and excited. We usually have about 500-600 students qualify and about 300 actually show up to get their Club Lion stickers. This year 604 student took the time to get their stickers and they were all thankful and excited about the turnout and recognition.
*DMS 2009 net was about 10K
I know traditionally the PTA gets a cut, what would that amount be for this year?
That is up to the ASB, in years past it was 10-12%
*Parent Project Report Moved to announcements section
Loretta, Irma and Bob will report out on it at your meeting. It’s a wonderful program that supports parents and students who are having a lot of issues with the teenage years.
*Please check out School Loop and when the PTA is ready to upload images, announcements please let us know (Skopal, Jaeger, Sylvia)
So we should contact Ms. Skopal, Ms. Jaeger, Ms Gutierrez to help us develop a webpage or just with the information to put on the webpage?
Someone from the PTA needs to produce the documents for the web site and we can load them up for you. Mrs. Jaeger, Ms. Skopal or Sylvia will be able to load the documents up for you and keep it current if you all provide them with the information.
